3D Printing Filaments

Here are just a few FDM 3D Printing filaments that we use at Click N Print 3D on a daily basis.

PLA - The most common 3D printing thermoplastic.

Polylactic Acid (PLA) is a thermoplastic aliphatic polyester made from natural and renewable materials, most commonly corn starch.

PLA is biodegradable.

PLA requires a lower extrusion temperature and becomes almost liquid when extruding.

PLA is advantageous as a support material as it dissolves in caustic soda.

PLA, like ABS, is available in a wide variety of colours.

PLA is also the base material in exotic filament such as metal, carbon fibre and wood blends.

ABS - The plastic used to make LEGO.

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene in full), is a thermoplastic which, as its name implies, is produced by the polymerization of acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene.

ABS is produced from fossil fuels, meaning that it is not biodegradable and has a greater environmental impact than PLA for instance.

Because of its toughness and strength ABS is a very popular and common used thermoplastic in industry.

Nylon - When strength is paramount.

At Click N Print 3D we use the full range of FDM nylon filaments from Taulman 3D.
From the super popular, high tensile Alloy 910 to the flexible PCTPE nylon and everything in between.
Nylon is great for components that will experience impact, wear or constant friction.

FLEX - TPE & TPU Rubber like filament.

Thermal Polyurathane (TPU) is a soft flexible rubber like filament.

It has great moisture resistance and high layer bonding strength and is suitable for designs that are required to exhibit rubber like properties.

TPU filaments have a shore rating of 85 - 95A.

Brassfill, Copperfill, Bronzefill and Steelfill.

- 3D printing with metal composites.

CopperFill, BronzeFill, BrassFill and SteelFill filaments can be post processed to look like real metal.

A unique quality of BrassFill is the lovely golden shine it shows when polished to perfection.
